Toastmasters Club
Harrovians Speakers' Club, we help you find your voice and your self-confidence.

Harrovians Speakers' Club is a local branch of Toastmasters International. We gives members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking, listening and evaluation skills.

Whether you're speaking to your customers, your co-workers or your children, or you are preparing for a job interview, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators, listeners and leaders.

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday at 7.15pm for a prompt 7.30pm start. Our venue is the upstairs function room of The Wealdstone Inn, 328 High Road, Harrow Weald, HA3 6HF. See the "Directions" link for full details.

We start with around 6 "table topics" i.e. impromptu, unprepared speeches of <90 seconds. After a short break, we enjoy 4 prepared speeches (typically ~6-7 mins per talk), 4 speech evaluations and conclude with a "General Evaluation" of the evaluators and the meeting itself. We aim to start at 7:30pm sharp and finish around 9:45pm. Most people stay behind to chat afterwards.
Our next meetings are at 7:15pm for 7:30pm, on Monday, January 19th and February 2nd and 16th.

If you would like a speech or evaluator role, please login to Duty Roster or contact our VPE, Mandip Sohal, mandipsohal @ yahoo.co.uk.

For general information, please contact webmaster Warren Sheng, wenterprise @ gmail.com/ 020-8202 9584 evenings & weekends.

Guests are ALWAYS VERY welcome and there is no charge. You will find everyone at Harrovians very encouraging and supportive, so please do come along and see what it's all about. If you then join the club, it will really make a difference to your life and to your ability to speak confidently in public.

The new committee comprises:-
President Alan McMahon
VP Education
Mandip Sohal
VP Membership Lorna Burns
VP Public Relations Alex Bustamante, assisted by Karl Howe
Secretary
Linda Williams
Treasurer Mandip Sohal
Sergeant at Arms Francis West
(Mentoring Coordinator & Webmaster: Warren Sheng)

Please support them in their hard work behind the scenes.

The photo, taken in the summer of 2007, shows:
From left to right, John Cyriac (ex-President), Anthony McGuigan (a former President), Indra Sikdar (ex-VPE, ex-Area Governor), Bal Garcha (ex-VPE), Kayode Olatuyi (co-founder of club), Naran Patel (ex-SAA), Alex Bustamante (SAA), Mandip Sohal (Treasurer AND VPE!), Alan McMahon (new President), Angela Lansbury (Secretary), Tony Lazar (ex President), Saley Ahmed. Photo taken by Warren Sheng (ex-VPE, Webmaster, in charge of dry humour). See the other group photo in Main Menu, Contact Us.
Note: Warren: The photos never show everyone. It's just too hard to do the shot indoors, where we meet, unless I invest in an expensive dSLR with a prime wide angle... Typically, our meeting has 15 - 25 attendees including a lot more women than appear in this shot!
